Before you bid on an item I highly recommend checking the seller's "feedback rating." This gives you an indication of how the seller has treated other buyers. Almost everybody ends up with a negative review here and there, but too many is a bad sign. Read the negative comments and decide for yourself.

Also be sure to check the shipping and payment details. Some unscrupulous sellers charge too much for shipping and handling. As for payment, I generally want to make sure that the seller accepts PayPal. If you're not familiar with PayPal, it's a very convenient, trustworthy online payment system that enables you to pay securely with a credit card.
